Possilpark learn about Biodiversity

A group of seven children from Possilpark (aged between 5 and 11 years old) participated in two workshops during the October 2019 school week to learn about Biodiversity.

The children have created these Hama Bead posted to demonstrate what they've learned during our workshops.

During the holiday week we visited Edinburgh Zoo, Five Sisters Zoo and Culzean Castle where we continued their learning about different mammals, birds, insects, plants and reptiles from all over the world.

The children were able to take these pictures of their favourite animals and flowers during these trips:

In total we had 20 parents & 35 children who joined us on the trips and said:

"My family went to one of the keepers talks and we learned that Otters teeth are so sharp that they can break through a mussels shell. This helps them when hunting for food"

"I went to the penguin walk and learned lots of interesting facts"

"My daughter now knows that in the autumn leaves will turn yellow and fall from the trees. And she can now show you the lotus leaf"

"I saw a rhino with no horn"

"I suffer from anxiety and was really worried about going out on today's trip but it was brilliant. I’m now excited for our next trip".

Thank You to ScotRail who provided us with free rail travel tickets through their Biodiversity Fund - which made these fun learning trips happen.
