Brighter Futures

We train and support people who are unemployed to begin their journey to full employment and volunteering.

Job Opportunities

Since Stepping Stones for Families was established we have always recruited from within the communities we work with to make employment opportunities available to local people. We found that this benefits the community as well as the service we provide, with us receiving an insight in to the issues that affect different areas.
Recently we have taken the chance to get on board with the government scheme, the Future Jobs Fund (FJF). This scheme has allowed us to take on many young, ambitious people to train and support, giving them a start towards their future careers in many different roles.

Training

Stepping Stones ensures that all of our staff have access to a wide range of training opportunities and that staff are always trained to the highest standard to ensure quality throughout our services. We continuously seek out and administer any training that we feel will benefit our staff as individuals as well as our organisation as a whole.
Through our South Ayrshire Childcare Development Project (CDP) we provide an 8 week pre-registration course for childminders. The project recruits, supports and sustains childminders in South Ayrshire and assist childminders to access post registration training. By supporting the development of new childminders, we ensure that the capacity for childcare remains at a level where it supports working families in South Ayrshire.
In addition to this we provide information, assistance and support through the facilitation of support and training groups throughout South Ayrshire and provide quarterly newsletters with valuable information and details of training opportunities. Our CDP officers deliver a wide range of training for other agencies and groups such as our laughter workshops, storytelling training, health and safety training and various other early years support and development training.

Social Enterprise

As with all businesses, we compete to deliver our services across a wide area through several different projects. The difference is that social and environmental purposes are at the very heart of what we do, and any income they make is reinvested towards achieving those purposes.
The Government defines social enterprises as “businesses with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are principally reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community, rather than being driven by the need to maximise profit for shareholders and owners.” This is what we try to convey through our work and our long established beliefs.
