Employment Policy

The Organisation employment practice operates within the relevant Acts:

  • Employment Protection (Consolidation) Act 1978
  • Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992
  • Trade Union Reform and Employment Rights Act 1993
  • Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997
  • Equal Pay Act 1970 / 1983
  • Sex Discrimination Act 1975 / 1986
  • Race Relations Act 1976 as amended by Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000
  • Disabled Discrimination Act 1995
  • Employment Relations Act 1999
  • Working Time Regulations 1998
  • Maternity and Parental Leave (Amendment) Regulations 2001
  • Human Rights Act 1998
  • The Part-time Workers (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations 2000
  • The Fire (Scotland) Act 2007

The Organisation will also take note of Amendments, Regulations, Codes of Practice and Case Law where appropriate.

The Organisation will ensure that all employment practices and procedures are regularly monitored and reviewed, in accordance with the Organisation’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

The Organisation will provide appropriate training for all employees.

Information will be made available to all employees through the Organisation and Employment Handbooks.
