October 2004 to Present

I joined Stepping Stones for Families (SSfF) on 25th October 2004, my position was SSfF Childcare Development worker (part of the SSfF Childcare Development Project) and was initially funded for 6 months through BICS (Better Integrated Childcare Services). My post was to support existing Childminding services and develop new childminding services across South Ayrshire.

Throughout my time in this post, I was given a great amount of training opportunities to develop my skills and understanding of childcare services locally and nationally.

My training opportunities included: various child protection training courses, first aid training, REHIS food & health training, infection control, GIRFEC & IAF, Bookbug Leader training, RoSPA in car safety training, street games, active play, Fit Ayrshire Babies training…the list goes on.

I was also given the opportunity to complete my SVQ Level 4 CCLD training course which I completed in February 2013.

Due to the funding changes in 2013 the SSfF Childcare Development Project closed…the new SSfF Childminding Support and Development Service commenced, the role remaining much the same with the focus on developing and sustaining childminding businesses in South Ayrshire. Training opportunities included: REHIS Health & Safety training, First Aid at Work, CEOP training.

I was extremely lucky to be given the opportunity to move into a new role as the SSfF Family Wellbeing Manager based between Glasgow and Ayrshire. This was a whole new experience and learning opportunity for me, I have been fully supported to adjust to my new role, my learning journey continues every day.

My training opportunities include: Mentally Healthy Workplaces for Managers, Introduction to Social Pedagogy Approach and Diamond Model training.

My thoughts…my time spent so far in Stepping Stones for Families has been very enjoyable, every day is a new day of learning and opportunity, I am very proud to be part of Stepping Stones for Families.
