The service gathers information on the needs of childminders and use this information for recruitment purposes. The service provides pre-registration training and post-registration support and development within the context of GIRFEC and the wellbeing indicators, with the aim that families will be provided with high quality services from childminders in their own geographical areas. This supports local parents/carers to sustain or enter employment/training which in turn improves the level of household income, reduce stress and increase self-esteem.
High quality childcare provides young children with a good start in life, friendships and security.
Childminding offers local people the opportunity to run their own small business which in turn builds community capacity and improves the local economy.
The work is carried out through various partnership arrangements with a variety of agencies across South Ayrshire. We also provide a local childcare information service in conjunction with CARIS, the Ayrshire wide Childcare Information Service.
‘Families and Communities within South Ayrshire will have access to more flexible, affordable, inclusive, high quality childcare to meet the varying individual needs’
